Meet Nathaniel Mills, AMFT
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist
(AMFT #163790)
Nathaniel Mills, MA, is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist whose work integrates psychodynamic psychology, mindfulness, and a deep respect for each person’s unique path. Drawing from both clinical training and personal experience with anxiety, he helps clients uncover deeper meaning in their struggles and move toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-understanding.
Nathaniel Mills, MA is an Associate Marriage & Family Therapist at Soul 2 Soul Healing. He earned his master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Depth and Psychodynamic Psychology, from Pacifica Graduate Institute.
Nathaniel’s work is rooted in both clinical training and lived experience. Having moved through his own seasons of debilitating, chronic anxiety, he understands intimately how overwhelming life can feel — and he has learned, through practice, how that same frenetic energy can be transformed into a life-giving force that carries a person toward who they truly are.
His approach is grounded in psychodynamic theory, which holds that our symptoms and suffering often point to a deeper call from the soul. The more skillfully we learn to listen and engage, the more our lives begin to open. This soul-led work is supported by a meditative sensibility drawn from his practice of Zen Buddhism, which creates space to see the inner patterns that so often feel intractable simply because they remain hidden. With a clear eye and an open heart, he believes, more joy becomes possible.
Nathaniel has worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds, with a particular focus on panic, anxiety, depression, grief, and substance use disorders. He sees the therapeutic space as one that humbles, challenges, and inspires — a place to grow together and to expand our capacity to be with what is true. Above all, his intention is to recognize each client’s uniqueness and brilliance, often in ways they have not yet been offered, and to co-create a space of genuine partnership.
For those who know self-doubt, shame, and the pain they carry, Nathaniel offers this: there is another way, and he would be honored to walk it alongside you.
“Nature loves courage. You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles. Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under, it will lift you up.” — Terence McKenna
